another piece for the lovely lovely
I originally painted the traditional maiko makeup on the character's face, though I later decided against it but still want to keep the title anyway...it is yet another attempt to immerse 2D & 3D elements together with lots of Far Eastern, more specifically, Japanese influence

Maiko by *kay-ness is just one sample from this deviant's amazing gallery. Gorgeous colors and unique style grab your attention and hold it as you take in all the wonderful details of this beautiful work. (Suggested by *Rita-Ria and Featured by `cosmosue)
her fingers are the best ive seen from you, but i think the joints should be more defined where the fingers meet the rest of the hand. the frame-pattern overlapping the dress is somewhat distracting. however - these critiques are minor and the painting looks great as it is.
the embroidery? is stunning..
i love how you mixed the drawing elements with the more realistic figure/dress. it looks like watercolour almost.
I know your works are never disappointing haha...
It seems that the only western thing is the girl. All the rest is Japanese or at least oriental, right ?
and... HOW THE HELL could you paint those patterns on her kimono ???
Fav .
This is great. Her hand looks awesome. There is just one thing that's bothering me: her right cheek comes out a bit too much, if you take away a bit of that it might even show her cheekbone off more and make the face not look a bit awkward... I think this would make everything perfect.
Keep it up!
thank you so much! I swore I had commented on one picture of yours on GFX, the one with a lady and a shell on her ear one, I forgot the name already, but apparently I hadn't and you unpublished your works oh well...at least you have your works here
I did try to make the girl look quite Asian, with a Hoang Nguyen-esque stylization, but apparently not
I've explained how I do embroideries on my tutorial here [link]
thanks! did you request for the print for Cherry Blossoms as well? I am going away for a week from tomorrow, so i'll submit them as prints by the end of this month...not sure if Gemma(my client) would let me submit this one as print, though, but I will ask her
